Lego Battles for the Nintendo DS is a fantastic game that combines the creativity of Lego with the strategic elements of a real-time strategy game. As a long-time fan of both Lego and strategy games, I was excited to give this game a try, and it did not disappoint.

One of the things that immediately stood out to me about Lego Battles is the variety of gameplay options available. The game features three different campaigns, each with its own unique storyline and set of missions. Whether you want to play as the heroic knights, the cunning pirates, or the powerful wizards, there is a campaign for every Lego enthusiast.

Each campaign consists of multiple missions, which range from simple tasks like collecting resources to more complex objectives like defending your base or capturing enemy structures. The missions are well-designed and progressively get more challenging as you advance through the game. I appreciated the fact that the difficulty level was just right, providing a good balance between being challenging and enjoyable.

The gameplay mechanics in Lego Battles are intuitive and easy to grasp, making it accessible to players of all ages. The touch screen controls are responsive, and the game utilizes the DS's dual screens effectively. The top screen displays the action, while the bottom screen is used for building structures and issuing commands. This dual-screen setup adds an extra layer of depth to the gameplay and makes it more engaging.

One of the highlights of Lego Battles is the ability to build and customize your own Lego army. You can choose from a wide range of Lego characters, each with their own unique abilities and strengths. Building your army strategically is crucial to success in battles, as different units excel in different situations. Experimenting with different combinations of units and finding the perfect balance is both challenging and rewarding.

The graphics in Lego Battles are impressive for a DS game. The Lego characters and environments are well-detailed and vibrant, capturing the essence of the Lego universe. The sound design is also top-notch, with catchy tunes and sound effects that add to the overall enjoyment of the game.

My only minor complaint about Lego Battles is the lack of multiplayer options. While the game does offer multiplayer battles, it is limited to local play, meaning you can only play with friends who also own a copy of the game. It would have been great to have an online multiplayer mode to compete with players from around the world.

Overall, Lego Battles for the Nintendo DS is a must-have for Lego fans and strategy game enthusiasts alike. With its engaging gameplay, variety of campaigns, and customization options, it offers hours of fun and replayability. I highly recommend this game and give it a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars.
