Dragon Age II for Xbox 360 is an action role-playing game developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts. As a fan of the original Dragon Age game, I was excited to dive into the sequel and see how the story and gameplay had evolved. After spending countless hours exploring the world of Thedas, I can confidently say that Dragon Age II is a worthy successor, although it does have its flaws.

One of the standout features of Dragon Age II is its engaging storyline. The game takes place over a span of ten years, following the rise of Hawke, a refugee who becomes the Champion of Kirkwall. The narrative is filled with political intrigue, personal relationships, and moral choices that have far-reaching consequences. The writing is top-notch, with well-developed characters and memorable dialogue that keeps you invested in the story.

The combat system in Dragon Age II has been revamped from the previous game, and it is a welcome change. The action is fast-paced and fluid, with a focus on tactical decision-making. Players can choose from a variety of classes, each with their own unique abilities and playstyles. The combat encounters are challenging but fair, and the ability to pause the game and issue commands to your party members adds a layer of strategy to the gameplay.

The graphics in Dragon Age II are a mixed bag. While the character models and animations are well-done, the environments can feel repetitive and lack detail. The game reuses a lot of assets, which can make the world feel less immersive. However, the art direction is still impressive, and the game has a distinct visual style that sets it apart from other fantasy RPGs.

One of the biggest criticisms of Dragon Age II is its limited scope. Unlike the first game, which allowed players to explore a vast open world, Dragon Age II is set primarily in the city of Kirkwall. While Kirkwall is well-realized and filled with interesting locations, the lack of variety in environments can make the game feel repetitive after a while. Additionally, the side quests can become repetitive and lack the depth and variety of the main storyline.

Despite its flaws, Dragon Age II is a highly enjoyable game that offers a compelling story and engaging gameplay. The improvements to the combat system and the well-written characters make it a worthy addition to the Dragon Age franchise. However, the limited scope and repetitive nature of the game may not appeal to everyone.
